Syndicate Wins a Massive €6.4 Million

While many people let winning a big lottery go to their heads, an Irish syndicate vowed that they are not going to let that happen. Pauline Troy and Kerrie Hillis sold a lottery ticket that won a massive €6.4 million for a group of three this past July. The two ladies work together at Argue’s Londis Store in Cootehill, and they seemed just as excited about the win as those who won it.

The group of three, who asked to stay anonymous, seem somewhat humbled by their winnings. They all vowed to continue working as normal, despite their brand new millionaire status. After collecting their money, the group headed to The National Lottery headquarters in Dublin to celebrate the win with a glass of champagne.

The trio won the lottery on 5 July this year after matching all of their chosen numbers to the announced numbers. The numbers drawn that day were 07, 16, 18, 20, 24, 37, and the Bonus was lucky number 13. Three days before the big one, on 2 July, the ticket was purchased. It was a Quick Pick ticket purchased in Argue’s Londis Store in Cootehill, Co Cavan. Cootehill is a market town less than 2 hours from Dublin.

The group nominated a spokesperson in order to remain anonymous. Their spokesperson relayed that the syndicate was, “absolutely delighted with this win. It will make life a lot easier for all of us and we will be able to help out friends and family as well.” They asked the spokesman to add that. “this is a huge amount of money, but we are all determined that it won’t change our lives drastically.”

Most lottery winners have an idea of what they’re going to do with the money, but the syndicate hadn’t decided yet. They all agreed to continue working as if nothing had ever happened, which means that this group truly wasn’t the type to let the winnings go to their head. One of the winners noted that, “The past five weeks have been surreal. It has been like a dream.” The trio will probably end up spending the money as they need it to cover expenses and all agree to a few big purchases.

The Northeast and Co Cavan have been trying to figure out who won this large amount of money. The speculation has been talked about for weeks, and the group decided to keep their head down until a few weeks after their winning day. They also waited to make their claim.

Breffni County has a stellar record of selling lottery tickets. They have been home to a win nearly every year since The National Lottery was established. 28 wins have occurred in the county, and The National Lottery has been in business for 30 years.
