One of the newest trade associations in the United Kingdom gambling industry is the BGC (Betting and Gaming Council). The new BGC has appointed a new CEO, and that CEO is Michael Dugher. He used to be the Shadow Secretary of State of culture, Sport, and Media. He is going to begin his duty as the new CEO in the spring of 2020. It is going to be after he steps down from the positions he currently has as the Chief Executive of UK Music, the British Music industry association.
Michael Dugher – New Chief Executive of the Council
Before he took his role at UK Music, he was the representative of the constituency of Barnsley East as a Labour MP from 2010 through 2017. During that time, he held numerous senior positions in the United Kingdom’s Shadow Cabinet. In addition to that, Dugher is also a member of the Creative Industry Council of the United Kingdom’s government.
Commenting on his new position, Michael Dugher stated that the gaming and gambling industry is a massive contributors. It contributes towards sports, the leisure industry, and the United Kingdom economy. He also added that he is undoubtedly looking forward to working with the members of the BGC and Brigid as they tackle all of the critical problems that the sector is currently facing. He then declared that, like many United Kingdom residents, he enjoys gambling. Therefore, creating a safe environment for punters is going to be his primary priority.
BGC Chairman Comments on the New Appointment
The Chairman of the Council of Betting and Gaming, Brigid Simmonds, stated that Michael Dugher would bring his extensive experience that he earned during his time in the parliament as well as his position at UK Music. He also added that Dugher would bring great energy, expertise, and leadership to the council. All of that is going to help it continue delivering the ongoing change that the UK industry needs to ensure enjoyable and safe gaming products. He finished his statement by saying that they all share an ambition for creating the most reliable gaming and wagering industry in the world. He added that he is looking forward to working with him.
